Getting extra help with instruments
Here you can find extra resources on getting help for your student. This includes: what to look for when choosing an intermediate model instrument (frequently known as a "step-up" model), potential private instructors to get lessons from in the area, and how to do simple maintenance/repair of your instrument in case something happens when you're not at school.
My Instrument Doesn't Work! Emergency Help Reference Pages
If you find your instrument isn't acting quite right, take a look at this collection of resources. Of course, if it is something beyond what you can do in these pages, you need to take your instrument to a local repair shop as soon as you can. If the repair is not something easily fixed, please take it to a repair shop - don't try to fix it yourself as accidents can make the repairs that much more costly! Local Repair shops are listed at the bottom of this page.
Step - Up Instrument Guide
Like shoes, musicians can outgrow their instrument. Student models are fantastic to determine the level of enthusiasm and commitment to their art, but they can only do so much. When a student "outgrows" their instrument, it is hard to know where to start. Please feel free to use these guides to help you get started in your search. The series of videos below are some great tips on what to consider when purchasing a "step-up" or a more advanced models. The first video (top left) is referencing the various materials that instruments are made of. The second (top right) is all about construction and what the differences are between student models and other models. The bottom video is all about purchase tips and considerations. Whenever a student is looking to moving up in the instrument world, knowing what you're looking at is always handy. I always encourage research into every element.
