Overview
The arts bring an important dimension to the educational program of the schools. Music draws upon student experiences, feelings, and logical thought processes. It is my belief that music should be a part of every student’s total education. The activities done in this class are to expand the world of ideas and self-expression. The primary aim of this program is placed on assisting the individual student fulfill their personal needs, goals, and potential by using music as the medium for advancement.
The Hawthorne Middle School Band program includes the study of music and appreciation, performance, instrumental instruction, and ensemble experience for all students at various skill levels. This program will be focusing on creating a lifelong learners with using music. In addition to the main focus of the program, students will also have the opportunity to pursue a variety of other, more in-depth studies in forms of private lessons, jazz band, small-ensemble, and solos. |

This will allow students who are struggling to get extra help on those specific items, yet provide advanced students direction on where to go once they have met their achievement goals. Every Friday will be a playing check date or an individual progress day where students can meet with me and get extra help.
